Account & Data Deletion Policy

Effective June 12, 2026 · Last updated June 12, 2026

This policy explains how to delete your Mooday account, what happens to your data when you do, what we may keep and why, and how long the process takes. It applies to the Mooday mobile application and your Mooday account.

If you have any questions, email us at admin@mooday.app. This policy works alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

1. How to Delete Your Account in the App

The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the Mooday app:

  1. Open Account → Settings → Delete Account
  2. Confirm deletion when prompted
  3. Your data is queued for deletion immediately and purged within the timeline described in Section 6

Deleting your account is permanent. Once the deletion is processed, your mood entries, notes, media, and profile cannot be recovered, so please export anything you want to keep beforehand.

2. How to Request Deletion by Email

If you cannot access the app - for example, you are locked out or have already removed it from your device - you can request deletion by email instead.

Send a message to admin@mooday.app with the subject "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address linked to your account. We may ask you to confirm ownership of the account before we proceed, to protect you against unauthorised deletion requests.

We will process verified requests within the timeline described in Section 6 and confirm by email once the deletion is complete.

3. What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove the following from our production database and storage:

  • Your profile and account credentials
  • All mood check-ins, intensity ratings, and timestamps
  • Free-text notes attached to your entries
  • Activity and context tags you created
  • Streak data and usage history derived from your check-ins
  • Photos and voice memos attached to your entries (stored in Supabase Storage)
  • Push notification tokens and daily reminder settings

4. What May Be Retained, and Why

After deletion we may retain a limited set of data where we have a legitimate reason or a legal obligation to do so:

CategoryWhy it may be retained
Anonymised, aggregated statsCounts that do not identify you (e.g. total check-ins per day across all users)
Legal and compliance recordsWhere we are required to keep certain records to meet our legal obligations
Security and fraud recordsMinimal logs needed to detect, prevent, and investigate abuse or unauthorised access
Payment and tax recordsTransaction metadata we are required to keep for accounting and tax purposes

Retained data is kept to the minimum necessary, is not used to rebuild your journal, and is deleted once the reason for keeping it no longer applies.

5. Premium Access and RevenueCat

Deleting your Mooday account removes your app data, but it does not automatically cancel a paid subscription.

Premium subscriptions are billed and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by Mooday. To stop future charges, cancel your subscription directly in your App Store or Google Play account settings before or after deleting your Mooday account.

<!-- TO-CONFIRM: RevenueCat is "Planned for launch" in the Privacy Policy and not yet wired up. Confirm the entitlement-deletion behaviour and update this section before publishing. -->

We use RevenueCat to verify subscription entitlements. RevenueCat stores purchase metadata (such as transaction IDs and entitlement status) keyed to your store identifier rather than to your Mooday journal content. Deleting your Mooday account does not, on its own, erase records held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat; those are governed by their respective policies.

6. Deletion Timeline

When you delete your account - whether in the app or by verified email request - your data is queued for deletion immediately and purged from our production database within 30 days, subject to any retention obligations described in Section 4.

7. Backups and Logs

We keep encrypted backups of our database for disaster recovery. When your data is deleted from the production database, it remains in older backups only until those backups rotate out of our backup retention window, after which it is overwritten. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups except where required to recover from a system failure.

Operational logs that may reference your account identifier are short-lived and rotate out on a rolling basis.

8. Contact
